Check out the recent pictures from one of our relief workers who just returned from Haiti!

The thumbnail/picture viewer format is very helpful.  It gives a good-sized thumbnail for quick viewing, breaks up the thumbnails into multiple pages (currently 3 pages of thumbnails) and allows the viewer to click on a thumbnail and view the large size picture.  You can also navigate the pictures by clicking the arrows at the bottom of any large image when opened.  It's a very flexible viewer and keeps the Haiti Relief web page small and loadable for slower computers.

In my blog yesterday I forgot to give the latest update regarding finances. To date we have received $39,897.39 (includes the new commercial generator yet to be shipped), and have disbursed $16,500.00. The rains have begun, so along with food and medicine, shelter will become a priority. We don't intend to "sit on the funds" but want to keep up a steady flow--something we intend to do. More than anything we want to be worthy of your trust and get the supplies into the hands of those needing it the most! Blessings!

We will be dispersing another $4,000 this week. Things are leveling out a bit, but those delivering the supplies can't make too big of a splash due to the dire needs. The good news is that many are being helped, and I'm hearing of an increasing number of groups (many I know personally)  who are spreading out into the devastated regions delivering food and supplies.

I'm still waiting on pictures, someone stole their camera in broad daylight. Thanks again for all of your help--let's not turn off the spigot now! Following is a report from Bill Landis of YWAM--he is married to a girl (Valerie) from Rapid City. I'll also be looking into partnering with them some, as they now have the means of shipping goods on a large scale:

Seven trailers were delivered to our campus full of medical supplies, food, tents, mattresses, clothing etc. Many of these supplies will be delivered to various locations with partnering ministries and orphanages beginning today and this weekend. Others will need to be sorted and organized for distribution amongst the volunteers currently working at our mission campus.

The ship carrying these supplies arrived Sunday. Although the government expressed that these items would roll off the ship and be released immediately to meet the need of the earth quake victims, this was not the case. Yet, after four days of working the fine details, this aid was released in record speed compared to past experiences.

Just spoke with Steve Tucker who is on the ground in Haiti. We are now able to buy such things as rice & beans and the feeding program is moving forward. Two doctors & nurses from Wisconsin have joined Steve; along with some from New York and Minnesota. We are so blessed to have someone like him who has so many contacts willing to step forward and help!

The water purification bottles we sent; and a larger on site purification system from Iowa,  are of great help he states. One of them also brought a jack hammer which has been very helpful--how he got it there I don't know? I'll be posting the amount received to date soon; along with some pictures.

Keep praying & thanks again for your generous hearts! Gary Johnson

Steve Tucker has connected with Pastor Serge and is now surveying the situation on site; a team from Iowa will follow shortly bringing additional supplies. They have set up tents and are able to use Serge's church as a base of operation. The damage to his church has been assessed and found safe to operate from, as well as conduct church meetings.
A member of Serge's church works at a bank that is operational and we are now able to get funds directly to him. Some goods can be purchased in Haiti, but much has to be brought in through the Dominican Republic. Groups of aid workers, doctors & nurses are coming in on a regular basis now from Trinidad & Dominican Republic.
They are now able to feed, and care for, many who have not been able to get to the main distribution centers. This outreach is not secterian in any manner and as many as possible are being helped! Thanks once again for all of your generous support! Let's not stop now as we have the potential to aid and rescue many; giving them a ray of hope amidst such devastation. As soon as possible we will pictures to show you. Blessings! Gary Johnson
